We were delighted to hear last year that we would once again be rubbing shoulders with the greatest political minds in the world on February the 18th in Charleston, South Carolina at the Reed Awards. With the who’s who of the political world and media industry coming together under one roof it was one night on the calendar not to be missed.
2016 was already shaping up to be a great year for the agency, 2 months in and we had new clients and exciting projects (watch this space). Now we get to add a shiny new award to that list that will soon take up residency on Bedford Street.
In 2015 our work for our client the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland’s ‘Step Forward’ campaign was recognised on the international stage when it took Gold at the 2015 Reed Awards. Held over two days, a selected venue in America becomes the central hub for the leading practitioners in the political world. They come from all over the globe to attend the Reed Awards & Conference, hosted by leading political publication Campaigns & Elections. The Reed Awards are the political equivalent to the BRIT Awards, Oscars or Cannes Lions. Known for promoting and rewarding excellence in the areas of political design, consulting and campaign management. Winning a Reed award is an indication of pioneering best practice and innovation within the political industry.
This past year we partnered with the Alliance Party on their latest election campaign for Northern Ireland, paving the way for the Westminster Elections that were held later on in May 2015. Titled ‘Step Forward- The Alliance Party of Northern Ireland’, we created a beautifully illustrated animation to tackle the challenges that the party faced. Our team consisted of creative director Andi McCarroll, copywriter Mike Fleming, illustrator Kristian Duffy, 2D animation by Sam Jones & Andi McCarroll, music by Ryan Taubert and sound design by Ian Jordan.
It was a piece that we were really proud of, so we were thrilled to hear that we had once again taken home gold at the 2016 Reed Awards. Making this a consecutive win for us on the international stage. Our MD Jaime Steele said-
“It was great to hear from Shane that we had won Gold again at the Reed Awards for ‘Best European TV Advertisement’. To win two years in a row is a fantastic tribute to the work that our client Alliance are doing and really showcases the creativity of our team. We are looking forward to 2017 and the challenge of getting a third win under our belt,” (Jaime Steele, MD Pale Blue Dot).
We caught up with Shane Greer, Co-owner and Co-Publisher of Campaigns and Elections this week to have a chat about this year’s win.
“The Reed Awards are the Oscars of the political campaign world, and winning one is extremely difficult. It speaks volumes about the quality of Pale Blue Dot’s work that they’ve won two years in a row. In an industry dominated by firms in the US, Jaime Steele and his team are putting Belfast on the map,” (Shane Greer, Co-owner and Co-Publisher Campaigns and Elections).
